The 2025–26 school year at Kaohsiung American School (KAS) promises a focus on deeper learning, wellbeing & community, and continuity. This framework of three strategic intents guides our curriculum work, our collaborative and professional learning calendar, budgets, and many other decisions, developments and resources. We are also committed to a Learner Profile that all of us can embrace— students from PK–12, faculty and staff, and the parents in our community. A good teacher is still a learner, and I think that’s true for all our staff members as well. Be curious, and you might learn something new! Be reflective, and what you’re learning and doing will bring you satisfaction.
Together, we will make KAS a special place to learn and a rewarding place to work this year!
As faculty and staff we shoulder the responsibility of preparing students who will create a better future for the world. Our leadership team believes in your care for students, your instructional skill, your sense of ethics, your eagerness for your own learning, and your willingness to put in the hard work required to be a great teacher.
KAS offers a vigorous liberal arts curriculum. We have a proven track record of academic success, complemented with rich programs for athletics, and fine and performing arts. Our mission, our mantra, is to be and to develop balanced individuals, independent learners, and global citizens. Let’s all keep this vision in front of us, making decisions and taking action based on what we believe is best for our students.
Our students and families choose KAS because we offer rich opportunities for learners to achieve at high academic levels, while also learning to embrace unique talents and new skills in order to create a better future for Taiwan and the world. As we collaborate to create a better future for KAS through our three strategic intents, always hold high expectations for our students, treat them with respect, and challenge them at high levels while reassuring them with your caring encouragement.
I look forward to working with each of you as we teach and learn together. I will support you as KAS faculty and staff in every way that I can. Together, I know we can have a great year. Go Dragons!
