Welcome to KAS High School!
KAS high school is a transformative period of intellectual and personal growth for our students. We offer a high school experience that caters to the unique needs and aspirations of all our students while instilling values such as empathy, resilience, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
Students are challenged through a broad range of course subjects and offerings that allow them to design a program specific to their interests, abilities, and future goals while ensuring a solid foundation for the next step in their educational journeys. Our rich curriculum is based on the US framework, and also includes the comprehensive International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years and Diploma programmes that build vital problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
Beyond the classroom, our high school students extend their learning, engage with the community, and explore their passions. Community service is a mandated graduation requirement that, along with student-led clubs, the arts, and competitive athletics, fosters personal growth, promotes teamwork, and nurtures a sense of belonging.
I invite you to learn more about the unique KAS high school experience by exploring our website further!

IB World School
KAS is accredited as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the internationally recognized and proven IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). These programs challenge our students across the spectrum of subjects to reach their learning potential and fulfill all the areas of the IB Learner Profile. The Profile includes 10 attributes that nurture active, compassionate, lifelong learners and align with the KAS Learner Profile.
Middle Years Programme
The MYP is a dynamic learning framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP is a five-year program, which is implemented in both KAS’ Middle School (grades 6–8) and High School (grades 9–10). In MYP classes, students are asked to go beyond exams, essays, and presentations. They are provided with a broad range of learning experiences, assessments, and resources to help them inquire into each unit’s key ideas. The MYP helps students grow holistically and culminates in the Personal Project.
Diploma Programme
The DP is a comprehensive two-year pre-university program for students in grades 11–12 leading to the IB Diploma, highly regarded IB Bilingual Diploma, or to individual subject certificates. The program offers a flexible curriculum and external exams each May that are widely recognized by leading universities around the world. A majority of our students complete the DP, which is comprised of six academic courses from at least five of the six subject groups in addition to the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge course (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). Students who satisfy the demands of the program demonstrate a strong commitment to learning in terms of knowledge and skills.
Cultivating leadership
Service learning experiences and engaging professional internships in the Kaohsiung community foster compassion and equip our students with vital leadership and 21st century skills.
Student choice through flexible pathways
Academic programs designed to best fit each student’s future academic and personal goals. All of our graduates receive a U.S. High School diploma, with many also receiving the reputable IB diploma, IB bilingual diploma, or DP subject certificates.
Preparing for the future
Our experienced College Counseling team supports students in navigating their future path and in aligning the college decision and admissions process with each individual’s strengths and goals.

Conor Gannon MYP/DP Physics
My background is (obviously) physics, with a focus on astrophysics and then nuclear physics. I’ve taught physics for 5 years so far, all in IB schools. I also taught English for a year which has definitely helped with aiming my lessons at the correct level for non-native speakers. Things I’m most looking forward to about moving to Taiwan:- Nature (I’m currently in a concrete jungle)
- Chinese. It seems like a cool language and I’ll enjoy being terrible at it
- New people. One nice thing about joining a new school is meeting hundreds of new students and co-workers. The connections that you make with people is easily the best part about being a teacher.
