Testimonial

“After this Brogent experience, I know that I am interested in the marketing field. Brogent assigned me interesting tasks to work on that allowed me to execute a lot of creativity. I like to work on assignments that don’t have a right or wrong answer and that everything everyone makes has its own value.”

Sigrid, 2023 FLP Intern

Future Leaders Program

High school students  explore future career pathways and hone their vocational skills through the Future Leaders Program (FLP). The FLP, envisioned by the Board of Directors, faculty members, and alumni in the summer of 2020, creates vocational opportunities to complement the strong academic foundation that KAS provides.

During their internships, students are matched with professional mentors at Kaohsiung-based businesses and organizations across fields such as medicine, environmental conservation, academia, and business. These internships allow students to gain hands-on experience, explore career interests, and develop key skills like communication, critical thinking and professionalism. FLP sponsors build meaningful connections, broaden their professional networks, and gain valuable insights that guide their future academic and career decisions.

The FLP bridges the gap between academic learning and career readiness, preparing students for success in Taiwan and beyond.

Service Learning

Service learning is an important part of the KAS experience that gives students the chance to engage with the local community and develop as compassionate leaders. Through valued community partnerships, we create opportunities for students from grades 6–12 to participate in meaningful community service activities and trips. Whether it’s street and trail cleaning, socializing with senior citizens, mentoring children, or one of the programs highlighted below, KAS service learning provides well-rounded educational experiences that take learning beyond the classroom to benefit students and the broader Kaoshiung community.

Academic & Interpersonal Mentorship (AIM) Program

The AIM Program serves as an opportunity for high school students to give back to the community through mentoring middle school students. Through these unique student mentor-mentee relationships, middle schoolers gain academic knowledge, interpersonal skills, connection, confidence, and the support they need to prepare for high school.

National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society

National Honor Society (NHS) is a service and leadership organization that students in grades 10–12 are inducted into based on selection by a Faculty Council. Student members uphold the four pillars of scholarship, service, leadership, and character, participate in leadership and service opportunities, and implement projects that benefit the campus, local, and global community. Students in grades 6–7 may be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). Similar to NHS, this international organization engages students in service activities and equips them with the knowledge and skills to act as leaders at KAS and in the community.

KAS welcomes partnerships with organizations and businesses to create meaningful opportunities for our students. Let’s explore how we can work together.
