What to expect
Choosing the right school is about more than finding the right academic program. It’s about finding a place where your child feels at home, discovers their strengths, builds meaningful relationships, and develops the confidence to pursue their potential. At Kaohsiung American School, we believe academic excellence, personal growth, and social wellbeing go hand in hand. We strive to spark curiosity and a lifelong love of learning, open doors to opportunities around the world, and prepare our students for an ever-evolving future full of possibilities.
Our Open House is an invitation to see KAS in action.
Step inside KAS during the Open House and see how learning extends far beyond traditional classrooms and textbooks. Explore the spaces where our students are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, collaborate, play, and turn their creativity and passions into something meaningful.
As a Google Reference School and Taiwan’s first LEED-certified school, KAS combines innovative learning spaces with an expansive green campus, reflecting our commitment to sustainability, wellbeing, and academic excellence. Thoughtfully designed also with local culture in mind, our campus draws inspiration from the Taiwanese tradition of courtyards as places to gather, connect, and build community. From hands-on experiments in our science labs and creative projects in our STEAM makerspace to performances on our state-of-the-art theatre stage and athletic pursuits in our sports complex, every corner of our campus offers opportunities to explore new interests, develop talents and friendships, and put learning into action.
KAS is home to a vibrant, supportive community of nearly 800 students and their families, alongside 150 staff and faculty members from around the world, bringing an extraordinary mix of cultures, perspectives, and backgrounds to KAS. But numbers and nationalities only tell part of the story.
The best way to understand what makes our community so special is simply by becoming part of it for a day. At our Open House, conversations go beyond merely our educational philosophy, curriculum and admissions. Chat with the educators whose expertise and passion are matched by their genuine commitment to each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth. Hear directly from students about life at KAS, and connect with parents who know what it means to be a Dragon – not just through their children’s experiences, but through the traditions, celebrations, and everyday moments they help bring to life.
What does it take to prepare your child(ren) for a future that is constantly changing? Strong academic foundations are essential, but so are the confidence to think independently, the curiosity to explore new ideas, and the ability to connect, collaborate, and communicate across cultures. At KAS, our American standards-based curriculum and International Baccalaureate programs bring this, and more, together. From PreK to High School, students are challenged to grow as a ‘Dragon Learner’; to think critically, make connections across subjects, and apply their learning beyond the classroom. Along the way, they develop strong multilingual and intercultural competencies, and build the resilience to pursue their ambitions with care. Through student-centered education, a rich variety of experiences in the arts, athletics, and leadership as well as internationally recognized qualifications that open doors to universities around the world, our students are able to explore what they’re capable of and where their interests might take them.
During our Open House, discover how our B.I.G. mission – Balanced Individuals, Independent Learners, and Global Citizens – comes to life. Meet our educators and counselors, and learn more about our academic programs, admissions process and college pathways.
