STEAM & Sustainability
In this week of Dragon Camp, kick start your summer in a creative and sustainable activity-based camp!
Explore the world of Science and STEAM with exciting experiments and hands-on projects. Your child will discover wonders, spark curiosity, and develop a passion for exploration, creating an unforgettable learning adventure! Students will also have PE and literacy blocks related to our sustainability theme.
Parents will be invited on the last day to celebrate students’ learning!
All students will engage in grade-level appropriate hands-on activities and literacy opportunities.

Session 2: July 22–26
Life Under Water
Explore the world of aquatic animals, both on land and beneath the water.
Dive into the wonders of marine life at our summer camp! Explore with experts from the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and encounter real amphibians and vibrant coral reefs.
Campers will uncover the different habitats, adaptations, textures, sleeping patterns, and food animals eat through exciting activities, swimming pool games, crafts, and connecting what they write and read in literacy blocks.
Parents will be invited on the last day to celebrate student accomplishments!
Camp Highlights:

Maggie Yen ES Chinese
Maggie Yen ES Chinese
Maggie joined KAS in 2015 as a teaching assistant. She holds her Master of Education from Ashland University, Ohio, and also a teaching credential for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Prior to coming to KAS, Maggie had worked as an English teacher in local kindergartens for years. She loves to travel and hang out with family and friends. Grace Lee Grade 2 Teaching Assistant
Grace Lee joined the KAS Family in 2010. She earned her Bachelor Degree from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages in Kaohsiung City. She was a teaching assistant for Grade 5 for three years and now she is working with Grade 2 students. She taught English in Kindergarten for two years in Kaohsiung and Pingtung City. She lives in Pingtung with her husband and an adorable daughter. She also enjoys Crossfit Class.Kristin Partridge Grade 1 Homeroom
Kristin Partridge Grade 1 Homeroom
This is Kristin Partridge’s first year at KAS and will be teaching in Grade 1. She is originally from Wisconsin, USA where she earned her BS in Elementary Education. She also holds a Master of Art in Management. Prior to teaching at KAS, Kristin taught in Indonesia, China and most recently at the United Nations International School of Hanoi, Vietnam. She also taught in the USA before teaching internationally. Kristin is passionate about teaching and creating lifelong learners with her students. Kristin joins KAS with her partner RG. Charlene Lin ES English Language Acquisition
After several years as a KAS parent and Kindergarten teacher in Kaohsiung, Charlene joined the teaching staff at KAS in 2020 as a teaching assistant in the Literacy & Inclusion Support office. She brings a wealth of experience teaching children in primary grades, including both native English and non-native English speakers. Ms. Lin holds a BA from Shih Chien University in Recreation Management, a MA from Moreland University in Special Education, and is certified in TESOL and TCAFL. She has four kids and two dogs. Eileen Chang Grade 4 Teaching Assistant
Eileen joins KAS in 2022 as the teaching assistant for Grade 4. She graduated from University of Queensland, Australia with Master’s degree of Environmental management (major in Conservation Biology). She used to work in Academia Sinica and National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium as a researcher, also as a science educator. She is a national-certified environmental educator. She was honored as the awardee of “EE 30 Under 30 Award” from Northern American Association of Environmental Education, as one of the 30 young leaders around the world with age under 30. Eileen has many artworks and articles published on newspapers and government publications. During the free time, she loves to play guitar, skateboard, swim and enjoys horseback riding. She and her husband have great passion on animals with keeping over 20 pets (mostly reptiles) in the house.Zoe Chu ES Health & Physical Education

Zoe will start her new role as a part-time elementary school PE teacher in August 2022. She has been a Pre-Kindergarten teaching assistant for over 6 years at KAS and was a co-teacher for several years before that. Zoe grew up in Kaohsiung and she graduated from Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages with a major in English. She worked and studied in Australia for two years to help improve her English and meet new friends. She returned in 2013. During her spare time, she enjoys training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, going to the beach, traveling, and enjoying food and coffee with her friends.Kyle Blaikie Grade 4 Homeroom
Kyle Blaikie Grade 4 Homeroom
Kyle is rejoining the KAS community after doing his teaching placement at KAS in 2018–19. He has lived in Kaohsiung for 8 years and is excited to join the elementary school. He holds an MBA from Cape Breton University in community economic development and an MEd from The College of New Jersey. Teaching is his second career after departing from banking. Kyle has worked and trained in the IB PYP over the past two years and is excited to continue to inspire and encourage students at KAS. He is joined by his husband, who works outside of education. In our spare time, we enjoy traveling around Taiwan and surrounding countries, cooking, and walking the dogs and the bird.Questions?
