Lulu Chen


Lulu started teaching Grade 4 at KAS in 2014, and currently teaches ELL for Elementary and Middle School students. She has a Master of Education in ESL/World Languages and Cultures from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (2009), and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Educational Studies from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota (2007). She has certification from Minnesota to teach K-12 ESL and an elementary certification from the state of Massachusetts. In addition to the formal degrees, she has had training in Responsive Classroom, Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy and Lucy Calkins’ Writing Workshop. Prior to joining KAS, Lulu worked in the Cambridge Public Schools in Massachusetts as well as in Osaka, Japan. Lulu was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, but grew up in Singapore and California. After living all her life abroad, she returned to Taiwan to be closer to her family. She enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors to learn more about the world and other cultures.
