Leah McGinnis joined Kaohsiung American School in the fall of 2015. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern Indiana in 2009 with two bachelors of arts degrees in Spanish and Elementary Education. Leah has extensive training in guided reading and teaching mathematics through problem-solving and has completed post-graduate work in teaching English language learners. After completing her studies, she was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach English at a local elementary school in Madrid, Spain. Upon completion of the grant, Leah spent three years as a second-grade teacher in Denver, Colorado, followed by two years in Cartagena, Colombia. She is now teaching Grade 5 at KAS. Leah’s family is spread out around the world, with her brother living in the United States and her parents in Porto, Portugal. She enjoys traveling and exploring new places and cooking, especially with her family.
