Dan Castelaz joined the KAS community in 2013 after a two-year sabbatical spent working on sculptures in his studio in Portland, Oregon. Dan has an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1976) and an MA English (TESOL) from Michigan State University (1985). He was certified in both disciplines in the state of Michigan and has received training in both IB and AP visual arts courses. In addition, Dan has been an IB Visual Arts Examiner. At KAS, Dan is the High School Art Teacher. Dan has been teaching since 1983 and has worked at Taipei American School, Southern Illinois University in Japan, and Indiana University in Malaysia. Two of his adult children are pursuing advanced degrees in New York and London, while a third is currently the principal at National Teachers Academy in Chicago. He also has twins (boy and girl) who are attending university.
