Julia Chiu-Ling Chen grew up in the Republic of South Africa, majoring in violin and piano at the University of Cape Town, where she earned her Master and Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Postgraduate Higher Diploma of Education. She obtained CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adult) from Cambridge University and is a qualified teacher in teaching IB PYP, and IB MYP music. She also trained and became a WASC member in 2017. In 2020, Julia completed a Higher Education Teaching Certificate with Harvard University and at the same time enrolled in a Master’s degree in education, Summer Principals Academy with Teachers College, Columbia University. Her music teaching experience includes 6 years in Rondebosch Boys School, Cape Town South Africa; 6 years in AST (American School in Taichung), Taiwan; and the lead music teacher in Kaohsiung American School since 2007. She has also held the role of teacher leader at KAS since 2018. Julia is a South African passport holder.
