Jessie Coyle joined KAS as the Elementary School Principal in the 2019-2020 school year. He is an educator, leader, mentor, and coach who focuses on building relationships and trust to foster stronger learning communities. His journey began while in college at the State University of New York at Fredonia where he had the fortuitous experience of working with five-year-old children and then continued through his master’s degree at the University of Memphis. Jessie went on to teach elementary music in the suburbs of New York City and the American School of The Hague (ASH). While at ASH Jessie grew into a strong educational leader studying with role models and mentors; such as Bill Powell, Ochan Powell, Bambi Betts, and Julie Ryan. Jessie received his principal certification in 2014 and moved into the Elementary Assistant Principal role at the American School of The Hague followed by the same position at the International School of Kenya in 2017. Jessie has successfully led teams on curriculum design, unpacking standards, balanced literacy, and conceptually based math. Jessie is excited to be part of the Kaohsiung American School community, and the strong, nurturing, and caring environment that has already been established here.
