Emelia McNally is excited to join the KAS community this year as a fourth-grade teacher. Emelia discovered her love for teaching in high school while volunteering at a children’s museum as part of CAS for the IB program. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and exceptional student education with endorsements in ESOL and reading from the University of South Florida in 2012. She is currently studying for her master’s degree in International Education Administration from Endicott College and will graduate in Spring 2021. Emelia taught students with emotional and behavioral disabilities and then fourth grade in her home state of Florida before moving abroad to teach in South Korea and Colombia. She spent the last two years working as a K-8 literacy and instructional coach in Colombia, helping teachers develop their instruction and assessment strategies. Emelia has extensive training in balanced literacy and reading intervention including attending the Teachers College Reading Institute at Columbia University. She enjoys biking, reading, cooking, yoga, and traveling.
