Colleen is a native Tennessean, and you will have no doubt of this once you hear her speak! She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction. Colleen worked in the field of Mental Health with at-risk youth before entering the fabulous world of teaching. She has more than 20 years of experience in Middle School teaching and has taught in the US between Tennessee and Maine for more than 16 years before realizing her dream to teach abroad.
Her first teaching abroad position took her to Bangkok, Thailand, where she taught Middle Years Mathematics and was acting Math Coach. She joined her current school in Lisbon, Portugal as a Middle School Science/Math teacher, and currently teaches Grade 6 all subjects. Colleen employs Project Based Learning and hands-on, minds-on methodologies in her teaching strategies.
Colleen has one daughter, Chloe’, who calls Taiwan home and is engaged to be married soon to a lovely Taiwanese native. Colleen has visited Taiwan many times and is excited to be joining the KAS team as an MYP Math teacher. Colleen enjoys traveling, gardening, nature hikes, singing, and board games.
