KAS Virtual Learning Plan for May-June 2022

Dear KAS Parents and Students,

Today the Board supported our leadership team’s plans for remaining online for the remainder of the school year, with safe, in-person activities and events for each class or grade level (such as graduation) to close the year well. This was a difficult decision but we feel we can best provide all of our learners with a robust and holistic learning program that features quality online teaching only if we can plan ahead. Going on/off at short notice to maintain the health and safety of our community is disruptive for students and their families, and makes it impossible for teachers to prepare consistently for high quality lessons and learning. The school will continue to monitor regulations carefully and we will adapt our plans if necessary.

The virtualKAS plan ensures that our Mission and Vision will continue to drive learning for all our students. Our online learning program will be synchronous, with additional learning activities planned for off-line or for homework too. Principals and teachers will be sharing details with you soon for daily class schedules and events, and expectations for our learners. You can read more detail in our virtualKAS handbook HERE. The handbook includes helpful guidelines for students and parents to make the online learning experience more productive and engaging.

This is a difficult way to end the school year and I thank you in advance for your support. The principals and I will be in regular communication with you in the coming days. We will get through this together.

With flexibility and resilience,

Jim Laney,

Head of School
