Semester 2: Life Goes On!
News for Juniors – gr 11
Fairly soon, we will begin the college application process. We have up until Christmas of 2016 to work on these applications; choose programs and colleges; apply; write essays and fill out applications. It is a long process but don’t let it scare you; it is an easy one. I will guide you through the process, step by step and we will all finish at the same time!
The first step is by meeting you all individually in an interview so I can get to know you better. A counselor’s recommendation is part of your application so in order for me to write about you as the super students you are, I must get to know what you have been up to for the past few years. Not to worry; you don’t have to prepare anything. Its just an informal chat. Please come in to see me any time otherwise I will send you a note with a time for you interview Since there are 72 of you, it will take me probably up to June to get through you all! Hang in there! Please feel free just to drop in if you have any questions anyway; no need to wait for a formal invitation! We will have many information sessions during our Advisory periods to help with the process as well.

Early Application Deadlines
Students applying for admission to Oxford University, Cambridge University, or any professional program at a university in the United Kingdom in medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine/science must file their UCAS application by October 15. Go to http://www.ucas.com or contact the UK Educational Advisory Service in Kaohsiung (07-223-8800) for more information.
Students applying Early Decision (ED) to colleges and universities in the USA must realize that the deadlines for the first round of ED applications are generally November 1 or November 15.
Other Early Deadline Schools
University of California and California State University systems (November 30)
OUAC for Ontario Canada schools (November 30)
the University of Illinois, (December 1)
the University of Washington (December 1)
the University of Texas (December 1)
Many REGULAR DECISION American applications are usually due on Jan. 1 or Jan 15. Since we are on Christmas break during that time, we are requesting that students finish all US applications by a December 15 deadline. That way you will be able to relax over the Christmas break. Also, the college servers, Naviance and the Common App servers are all very busy at that time of the year with last minute applications. Students have had many problems trying to send files at the end of December. You could miss a deadline if you wait till the last minute.
