What an absolute honor it’s been to host the 2017 Mother’s Day Concert here at the Kaohsiung American School!
Janet Hsieh – for being a wonderful guest performer and inspirational speaker, celebrating her first Mother’s Day with us!
Angel Heart Family Social Welfare Foundation – for the great work that they do in supporting children and families
Kaohsiung Welfare Bureau – for gracing us with their presence and support
AIT Kaohsiung – for showing us their constant, unwavering support
Joe Lee – celebrated composer / arranger for a performance to remember!
Shufang Du – One of Southern Taiwan’s most outstanding musicians for taking part
Monica Su – KAS Performing Arts Director for making this event spectacular!
With everyone’s donations, we were able to raise NTD$100,000 to further aid children with disabilities and rare diseases as well as their families. With branches across Taiwan, the Angel Heart Family Social Welfare Foundation is well established. They support thousands of children and their parents in dealing with disabilities as well as rare diseases. Their ongoing work is an inspiration to what we can achieve when we come together in unity. You can find out more about them here.
Our own KAS students had to audition for a role in the charity event. We are so impressed with the hard work and effort that everyone has put in to make this a spectacular show. Weeks of preparations have culminated into a fantastic performance, and we couldn’t be more proud!
Outside the KAS, we have also garnered some media attention with the charity concert. ChinaTimes featured our event, going into the backstory of how we were able to bring together such talented musicians from across Taiwan to celebrate such an important day. The big surprise to even us a few weeks before the concert was when Janet announced her pregnancy! We are so pleased and congratulate her on her wonderful news! Thank you Janet, for choosing to spend your first Mother’s Day with us!
